Professor Chengli Song is the Executive Director of Shanghai Institute for Minimally Invasive Therapy (SIMIT), School of Medical Instrument and Food Engineering at the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology (USST). He has a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Cardiff University, UK and a Master in Biomedical Engineering from Southeast University, Nanjing China.
Professor Song’s research interests focus on minimally invasive devices, smart materials and biomechanics. He has invented a number of medical devices which have been approved by China FDA and CE mark. His research has won a number of national and international awards, including 2015 Shanghai Science and Technology Contribution Award. He has published more than 120 papers and 93 patents, and in 2017 he published the Stanford Biodesign Chinese Edition. Based on his research and technologies, he has helped a number of spin-off companies in medical devices and technologies.
